Kids Cancer Care was born from one mother's love and determination to bring joy to her son's life after a devastating brain tumor diagnosis. When Christine McIver saw the happiness a cancer camp brought to her son Derek, she made it her mission to ensure that every child in Alberta facing cancer could experience that same joy, support, and hope. Starting in the late 1980's in her basement she worked tirelessly with the help of volunteers to establish the first cancer camp in Alberta. Today her efforts have grown into a powerful force of compassion-offering year-round camps, family support, hospital care, education programs, scholarship opportunities, and research funding. Kids Cancer Care walks with families through their darkest days, bringing light through laughter, love, and a vision for a brighter future.
